THELMA announces new curator and arts education coordinator joins the team
Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced that area artist and adjunct instructor Michael Wartgow is the new curator and arts education coordinator.
Wartgow comes to THELMA with over two decades of arts and arts education experience.
“With the expansion of arts education in the last year, and now with Michael joining the team, this is a reaffirmation of our commitment to the arts,” said Jacqui Corsi, THELMA’s Executive Director.
THELMA’s Board of Directors recently revised THELMA’s mission to simply state its purpose as “Enriching our community through the arts,” Corsi added.
Artists, members, and donors are invited to a free reception, Meet the Curator, Tuesday, July 31 from 4 to 6 pm at THELMA. Cash bar and snacks will be available.
Wartgow has a master’s in fine arts from Kent State University and a bachelor’s degree in painting and graphic communications from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.
He has worked as an art manager for Progressive Insurance Company in Mayfield Village, Ohio, and most recently as the chief operating officer for The Building for Kids Children’s Museum in Appleton.
Wartgow has taught at Kent State University and currently is an adjunct instructor at Marian University. He is an accomplished artist as well with solo exhibitions, serving as artist-in-residence and leading lectures and workshops.
In addition to his position as curator of all THELMA exhibitions, Wartgow will manage THELMA’s permanent and on-loan collections, and he will lead all arts education programming at THELMA.
THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District. THELMA is a member-based, privately-funded non-profit dedicated to providing arts experiences not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts with major performers, indoor films, and art from world-renowned artists are available at THELMA.
