11 Thursdays of Summer concerts begin

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced today the 11 Thursdays of Summer Concerts kickoff today with The Whiskeybelles.

This is the third summer of this free outdoor concert series. THELMA brings bands from across the Midwest, attracting audiences of all ages and interests. New this year, the block of Sheboygan Street, between Portland and Marr streets, will close every week making room for more fun.

The concert series is free thanks to generous sponsors. The presenting sponsor is Michels Corporation. Platinum sponsors are The Goldsmith, J.F. Ahern, C.D. Smith, and Wisconsin Arts Board. Gold sponsors are Culver’s Restaurants and Steve & Lynne Uecker. Silver sponsors are Carlone’s Bar, Gallery & Frame Shop, Mike’s Music, Lillian’s, Brothers Flader, John & Sandy Miller, and Holiday Auto. Bronze sponsors are Renaissance Salon, Solberg Real Estate, Hometown Bank, and Connie’s Diner. Friend sponsors are Texture Salon, McClone, ModTruss, Cujak’s Wine Bar, Cutter Vac, and Theo’s 24. The Whiskeybelles are an all-female traditional country and Americana trio featuring pitch-perfect three-part harmonies and their own hot fiddle, guitar and bass playing. They have been nominated for 2018 Bluegrass/Americana Artist of the year.

Kyle Megna and the Monsoons (Nominated for 2018 Artist of the Year and Alternative Rock/Rock Artist of the Year) and (2017 WAMI Alternative Rock/Rock Artist of the year) play June 21.

Playing June 28 is the trio, Aaron Williams and the Hoodoo who have the blues deeply rooted in the music they love to play.

Vivo is performing on July 5. They have combined their creative passions to form a lively & contemporary jazz/pop, bossa/samba music ensemble.

TWANG is a country western band from Fond du Lac coming to perform on July 12.

 

MoJoe & Flipside is a Central Wisconsin blues band of talented musicians playing July 19.

Playing July 26 is Armchair Boogie, a four-piece Bluegrass Folk band formed in the heart of Central Wisconsin.

August 2 features 800 lb. Gorilla, a rock/jam band based in Indianapolis, Indiana. With a rock and roll core, the band pulls together funk and jazz influences to create driving, catchy, danceable grooves.

August 16 will be the Hot and Dirty Brass Band, nominated for 2018 New Artist of the Year.

Performing, August 23 is Copper Box, nominated for 2018 Folk/Celtic Artist of the year.

Unity the Band is playing August 30. They are an award-winning original roots reggae group based in Wisconsin and have been nominated for 2018 Artist of the year and 2018 World/Reggae/Ska/Latin.

The concerts begin at 7 pm and the bar opens one-hour prior. Food will be provided by Bob’s Pizza and Korneli’s and Hot Dog Charlie’s.

THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District. THELMA is a member-based, privately-funded non-profit dedicated to providing arts experiences not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts with major performers, indoor films, and art from world-renowned artists are available at THELMA. THELMA also offers a stunning backdrop for weddings, meetings and all social and corporate gatherings.
