THELMA Visual Artists (TVA) is a professional group of artists devoted to promoting and encouraging visual art throughout Fond du Lac and the surrounding areas. As a program of Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, TVA fosters creativity and focuses on professional development through a supportive artist community, exhibitions, classes, workshops and collaboration.
The Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale is a community children’s chorus comprised of fourth through eighth grade students, from Fond du Lac and the surrounding communities, interested in performing and studying high-quality choral music. Founded in 1997 as a project of the Fond du Lac Arts Council, it is a resident ensemble of the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts in Fond du Lac, WI.
The Lake Reading Series hosts writers at THELMA, providing opportunities for community members, students, creative writers, and book-lovers to engage with contemporary literature and authors writing today – from poets, to novelists, to memoirists. Christina Kubasta teaches at Marian University and coordinates the Lake Reading Series. THELMA’s arts day camp – On Stage @ THELMA is a two-week camp, fourth through eighth grade students learn the lines, the songs, the choreography, and build the sets. On the final day, students will perform the musical for family and friends! Eva Thelen-Dunphy, director of the Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale at THELMA continues to direct the On Stage @ THELMA performances.
A WAMI nominee for Best Big Band, the band plays a variety of genres in the big band style. The LBB has long been the house band for the Fond du Lac Jazz Festival, and has appeared in concert and dance venues throughout the state over the past 18+ years backing such jazz stalwarts as Tom “Bones” Malone, David “Fathead” Newman, Kevin Mahogany, Eugene Rousseau, Tony Scodwell, Scott Whitfield and Ginger Bergman, Janet Planet, and the acclaimed jazz trumpeter Valery Ponomarev.
