On Stage@THELMA: Cinderella
The 3rd annual Arts Day Camp – On Stage@THELMA will feature the Brothers Grimm classic Cinderella.
During the two-week camp, fourth through eighth grade students learn the lines, the songs and the choreography, and build the sets. On the final day, students will perform the play in two evening performances.
The camp is sponsored by advocates for youth arts education, as well as U.S. Bank and the Wisconsin Arts Board.
The day camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 31 to August 11. Two performances will be held Friday, August 11 including a 5:30 pm performance and a 7:30 pm performance for the community. Each student will receive two complimentary tickets for family to either performance. There will be a $5 charge for all other seats.
Meet the Leadership Team:
David Hein, assistant professor of music at Marian University and director of the Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale at THELMA, will direct the production again. Hein has more than 25 years of experience directing and producing children’s theater, including productions such as “Robin Hood” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” He has directed the last two On Stage@THELMA performances: Robin Hood in 2015 and Alice in Wonderland in 2016.
The children will also gain hands-on experience with set design by working with visual arts instructor Anoush Cowles. Cowles teaches at Evans and Rosenow elementary schools. She brings a passion for children’s creative process to the production.
The fee is $175 ($140 for Friends of THELMA).
Tickets for the performances will go on sale at a future date.
