Lighthouse Big Band and Guest Vocalist Paul Rosenfeldt: Holiday Kick-off Dance Party

Got your dancin’ shoes ready? The Lighthouse Big Band’s Holiday Kick-off Dance Party takes place November 22nd in the Fountain City Jazz and Dance Club at THELMA at 7:00pm. The band will be performing songs of the “Big Band Era,” featuring music from Charlie Barnet, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, and many other favorite dance bands from that era. The band will be joined by guest vocalist Paul Rosenfeld, who will be singing favorites from the Frank Sinatra library.

Opening the evening for the LBB is the Fond du Lac High School Jazz 1 big band, under the direction of Jake Opperman. This is another part of the LBB’s commitment to working with and offering opportunities to local and area student musicians.

It promises to be a fun evening of dancing and big band classics so get all your dance partners rounded up and we’ll see you at THELMA!

The Lighthouse Big Band, a 20+ year mainstay in the music scene, is now also honored to be a resident ensemble at Thelma.

A WAMI nominee for Best Big Band, the band plays a variety
of genres in the big band style. The Lighthouse Big Band performs music including traditional big bands/dance bands of the 30’s and 40’s, the music of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, Latin Jazz, contemporary big bands like Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, as well as big band versions of rock/fusion music.

The LBB has long been the house band for the Fond du Lac Jazz Festival, and has appeared in concert and dance venues throughout the state backing such jazz stalwarts as Tom “Bones” Malone, David “Fathead” Newman, Kevin Mahogany, Eugene Rousseau, Tony Scodwell, Scott Whitfield and Ginger Bergman, Janet Planet, and the acclaimed jazz trumpeter Valery Ponomarev.
