Marcia Ball and Tommy Castro and The Painkillers
Apr 18 @ 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm
A night of serious blues and dancing boogie woogie featuring Tommy Castro and Marcia Ball!

Ever since he first picked up a guitar and started making music, Tommy Castro believed. He believed he would not only be able to make a living playing music, but could develop his own signature sound and style. Today he is famed not only for his hard-hitting, impassioned vocals and his blues-infused, rocking R&B sound, but also for his striking, original songwriting and exhilarating stage show.

Four time GRAMMY nominee and winner of eight Blues Music Awards, singer/pianist Marcia Ball knows how to raise roofs and tear down walls with her infectious, intelligent and deeply emotional brand of southern boogie, rollicking, roadhouse blues and heartfelt ballads. Over the course of her three-decade career, Ball has earned a huge and intensely loyal following all over the world. Her exquisite piano playing and passionate, playful vocals fuse New Orleans and Gulf Coast R&B with Austin’s deep songwriting tradition into a sound No Depression described as “a little rock, a lot of roll, a pinch of rhythm and a handful of blues.”

Phillip-Michael Scales
May 8 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Chicago singer-songwriter Phillip-Michael Scales, the nephew of blues great B.B. King creates thumping, tuneful folk-rock music! To say that Scales was born with music in his blood would be an understatement. As the nephew of the legendary  B.B. King, Scales grew up on a healthy dose of motown, soul and of course the blues. But as he evolved and later attended Berklee College of Music, so did his taste in music, skewing more towards indie rock.

About the Band

Copper Box is a Roots/Americana quartet loaded with energy and a mountain of instruments, influenced by blues, jazz, rock, polka, etc.
Danny Jerabek (accordion extroidinaire, keys, percussion, vocals, cornet, sousaphone, etc.) and his wife, Michelle (Thull) Jerabek (bari saxophone, vocals, guitar, percussion, etc.) both were nominated for several WAMI Awards including 2017 Reeds/Brass Award (Michelle), Specialty Instrumentalist of the Year 2011 & 2010 (Danny Jerabek) and Americana Artist of the Year 2009 & 2012. Both started performing with their family on stage at an early age.
Danny Jerabek was given an accordion from his grandfather at age 9 and taught himself how to play it. Inspired by Steve (Esteban) Jordan, “the Jimi Hendrix of Tejano Accordion,” he began to “rock out” and improvise –thinking a little more, “outside the box.” He has been featured at the International Accordion Festival in San Antonio, TX, and the National Accordion Festival in Houston, TX, and the Cotati Accordion Festival in Cotati, CA, and has been featured on national TV. In 2015, Danny accepted an Artist Endorsement deal with Hohner Accordions, Inc. The current line up includes the highly regarded talents of Dan Cable (drums, percussion) and Drew Hicks (bass, ukulele).
